Description

The University of Wyoming’s (UW) Division of Social Work invites applications for a tenure-track position at the level of Assistant Professor on the Laramie campus, preferably for Fall 2022. We are particularly interested in applicants who want to be a part of a small but diverse faculty who are energized to enhance and expand its programs with a focus on social justice and frontier practice. Persons with said commitment and with expertise in teaching generalist and advanced generalist practice at the micro, mezzo, and macro levels are encouraged to apply; in addition, persons with a special interest in teaching policy and HBSE are especially encouraged to apply.

The Division of Social Work offers a Generalist BSW program and an Advanced Generalist MSW program, enrolling approximately 75 undergraduate and 40 graduate students. The MSW program is a hybrid model that utilizes distance education methods as well as intensive face-to-face week-end classes to deliver the curriculum statewide; the BSW program offers traditional on-campus programs in Laramie and Casper. The University provides resources for new faculty, including start-up funding.

Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Earned doctorate in social work or closely related field or interdisciplinary fields (doctorate must be successfully defended prior to the anticipated starting date); MSW from a CSWE accredited program or equivalency, as determined by CSWE; and at least two years of post-MSW practice experience.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Teaching experience in social work or related field; expertise in working with diverse and rural/frontier populations; experience using distance education technology; and experience in a generalist/advanced generalist social work education program.

Candidates with strong social-justice practice experience at the micro, mezzo, and macro levels,  experience teaching social policy courses, as well as competence in both bachelor’s and master's instruction, will be given priority. The candidate may be expected to teach generalist social work practice courses, such as introduction to generalist social work practice, as well as advanced generalist practice with individuals, groups, and families. The desired applicant will also need to be able to teach in one or more other core curriculum areas such as:  HBSE, policy/advocacy, community/organizational practice, research, leadership and supervision, diversity, ethics, or other courses that are part of the curriculum of generalist and advanced generalist social work practice.
