The University of Maine is the flagship campus of the seven campus University of Maine System. The School of Social Work offers CSWE accredited BSW and MSW programs. Opportunities are available to collaborate with the University of Maine’s Center on Aging, a University-wide interdisciplinary center specializing in aging education, research and community service. Acadia National Park and other recreational areas are within easy driving distance from campus

Company History

The University of Maine has provided undergraduate education in social work and social welfare since the 1950's and began offering the BA degree in Social Work in 1972. The BASW program was granted initial accreditation from the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) in 1979 and has remained fully accredited. The two-year graduate program leading to the Master of Social Work degree was approved by the Board of Trustees in 1987. Accreditation for the two-year graduate degree has been continuous since first granted by CSWE in 1991. The school has grown from approximately 50 undergraduate students in 1987 to about 120 undergraduate and 120 graduate students.
